Athletic Therapy

Athletic Therapy is a health care profession that specializes in the prevention, emergency care, assessment and
rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries (muscles, joints, ligaments, bones). Through an active rehab approach, athletic
therapy can include clinic modalities as well as exercises, and patient education to learn about lifestyle factors that can
help you get back to doing what you enjoy faster.
Athletic therapy services are not limited to athletes alone. Whether it’s lifting an infant into your arms, running
for the bus or bending down to work on your garden, people move and exert their bodies constantly… sometimes feeling
pain from those movements. Those are reasons enough to seek athletic therapy services.
Athletic therapists specialize in treating injuries to muscles, bones and joints. This would include (but not limited to) strains, sprains, pre/post-surgery rehab, chronic injuries, and injuries from Motor-vehicle accidents. Services can also be provided to those dealing with concussions.

Athletic therapy may be covered by your extended health benefits carrier, depending on the package your employer has chosen. It is not covered by all of the insurance companies, so it is recommended for you to check what is covered and if Athletic Therapy is not included, you can request it to be added to your plan.

Athletic therapists specialize on musculoskeletal injuries & rehab, while Physiotherapists have more scope with regards
to neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular health issues. However, BOTH professions have a focus on prevention of
injury, proper assessments, acute and chronic injury management, as well as maintaining a high standard of professional
responsibility

PEMF

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field technology (“PEMF”) is a wellness modality with a variety of benefits. While the concept seems modern, the use of electromagnetic fields for wellness actually dates back to the 19th century and has a rich history of scientific discovery.
Capitalizing on the intelligence and holistic nature of the body, the pulsing field introduces an electromagnetic charge to the cells, stimulating and exercising them. Rather than treating or addressing injuries or illnesses, the cells use the supplemental energy from PEMF to better perform their many jobs—relaxing the body to assist with muscle fatigue, providing full-body energy, and enhancing the natural recovery process.

ARP WAVE THERAPY

ARP stands for “Accelerated, Recovery, Performance.” This machine is a type of electrical stimulation device for the nervous system to help relax and elongate muscles, promoting healing and less scar tissue. During an ARP session, clinically appropriate levels of direct current are used to penetrate injured muscle tissue and break down existing scar tissue. ARP’s primary use is for the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.
