Jared grew up playing his minor baseball in Red Deer. After finishing his minor baseball, he moved on to Indian Hills CC where his team participated in the JUCO World Series both years he played there. After Indian Hills he attended Minot State where he was named First Team All Conference his senior season. He played 12 seasons for the Red Deer Riggers and won a National Championship in 1997. After finishing up his playing eligibility at Minot State, he was named assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the school, where he spent two years in that capacity. Jared also played and coached in Brisbane Australia for one season. Jared also holds a Level 4 National Umpire designation under the Baseball Canada NCCP program and has been selected to work two National Championship tournaments.
